Manage the water resources in the farm

ACTION:

1. The farm records monthly the water consumption specifying the source of supply and its use.

Means of verification:

Monthly record of water consumption specifying the following information:

• Date
• Crop.
• Sector.
• Available supply source (canal, well, drinking water supply, cistern network).
• Surface.
• Irrigation time.
• Volume of water applied daily (m3).
• Accumulated water volume (m3).

ACTION:

2. The farm trains its decision maker workers regarding water addressing strategies to manage efficiently the resource.

Means of verification:

Record of training implementation: attendance list identifying gender, theme exposed, material exposed, photographic record and certification given- or certificate of participation in external training instances (courses, seminars, congresses).

3. The farm has a map with the location of the water supply sources in the farm.

Means of verification:

Digital or paper map of the water sources.

4. The farm trains workers related to irrigation activities addressing operative actions to manage efficiently the resource.

Means of verification:

Record of training implementation: attendance list identifying gender, theme exposed, material exposed, photographic record and certification given.

ACTION:

5. The farm has plans of the irrigation infrastructure associated to production.

Means of verification:

Digital or paper plan of the irrigation equipment.

ACTION:

6. The farm has a deep well, uses measurement instruments to record its flow complying with the extraction monitoring required by agency in charge, DGA (Dirección General de Agua, its initials in Spanish).

Means of verification:

Record of the DGA extraction monitoring that has:

• Holder’s data: name, RUT (identification number in Chile) and holder’s address.
• Source data: name, code and location of the water source that is being used.
• Extraction information:

*Start and ending date and time of the extraction.

*Flow/volume extracted.

*Name and signature of who made the extraction.

Information of the meter: series number, calibration date, correction factor of the flow meter used to measure the extraction.

7. The farm has a water management plan that records the management of the resource.

Means of verification:

Management plan of water resource that has the following information:

• Efficiency indicator of the water used (m3 of water/plum).
• Efficiency goal of water used based on the indicator proposed in the last point.
• Proposal of a percentage of reduction of water use if the efficiency goal is not complied.
